The state elections are coming up, and you can see the effect on the landscape. These boards are specially placed for elections, and parties that run in the elections can freely use them to put up posters. The posters showed here are from (from left to right): * (Natuurmonumenten http://www.natuurmonumenten.nl/) with the slogan *Stem Voor De Natuur* (/Vote For Nature/) * (Partij Voor De Dieren http://www.partijvoordedieren.nl/) with the slogan * Kies Partij. Voor De Dieren.* (/Pick A Side. For The Animals./) The poster shows Marianne Thieme, a animal rights activist, writer and politician. * (ChristenUnie http://www.christenunie.nl/) with the slogan *Duurzaam Voor Elkaar* (No idea how to translate it... It doesn't make any sense to me) * (Christen Democratisch Appèl http://www.cda.nl/) with the slogan *Vertrouwen In Nederland. Vertrouwen In elkaar.* (/Trust In The Netherlands. Thrust In One Another./) The poster shows the head of Jan Peter Balkenende, the current prime minister. * (Partij Van De Arbeid http://www.pdva.nl/). * (Groen Links http://www.groenlinks.nl/), showing Femke Halsema. * (Socialistische Partij http://www.sp.nl/), featuring Jan Marijnissen. Note that Natuurmonumenten isn't a party you can vote on. Their poster shows what parties are good for the nature areas in the Netherlands. For a nice list of many political posters used in the Netherlands all the way back to 1918, see (verkiezingsaffiches.nl http://www.verkiezingsaffiches.nl/).
