These gulls are quite big, and can be found around Groningen on a regular basis, especially when the weather gets tough on the North Sea. This one was camping on a box made for water birds in the middle of the pool, so I couldn't get a very good shot of it. The photo doesn't show it really, but it had a nice red dot on its beak, which distinguishes it from its cousin species.
