This type of postbox is disappearing from the Dutch streets; It was originally placed by the PTT, a Government-owned corporation that provided telephone and mail services. The PTT was privatized and split up, and the mail division first gained the name PTT Post and later TPG. The sticker on the mailbox displays this name. Recently, because TPG owned TNT, they have changed their brand in the Netherlands to TNT. Therefore they will replace all the red mailboxes, like the one on the photo, with new ones, that are orange.
